Gravitic Fulcrum

While Ativari Conclave possesses many fantastical technologies compared to the less-advanced societies of the Spur; perhaps the most transformative is their harnessing of the graviton; using a device known as a gravitic fulcrum to generate and direct gravitons and anti-gravitons for the manipulation of gravitational forces.

Appearance & Core Function
Appearing as a small orb suspended within a shell of control elements, gravitic fulcra have become all-but ubiquitous within Ativari society. In a process not-dissimilar to the Arquebus spatial-differential drive; the fulcrum uses the excitement of exotic matter contained within the fulcrum orb to generate a stream of gravitons that can be directed through a weak spatial field. The polarity of this effect can be reversed, producing anti-gravitons instead and allowing the fulcrum to alternatively attract and repel other matter. While the limitations of this technology are few, the power requirements to affect graviton generation are enormous; handheld devices do not typically function for long without a connected reactor, and its use on starships, orbitals, and other infrastructure requires massive power generating capabilities.​​​
​Applications
Gravitic Weaponry is found ubiquitously throughout Ativari warrior orders, who prize such weapons for their flexibility and destructive potential. By modulating the graviton stream a gravitic firearm can function as a simple tool to move objects or materials, collapse enemy infrastructure, or attack individual combatants with pinpoint accuracy. While they bring with them the downside of high power requirements and short range, the Conclave's combat doctrine tends to rely on stealthy, devastating attacks for which gravitic impulse weapons are perfectly suited.​​
Gravitic Drives are one of the more obvious use-cases of graviton manipulation; allowing starships and other vehicles to propel themselves with directed gravitons in a pseudo-reactionless fashion. Fulcra present on starships also serve a dual role of generating onboard gravity fields and can function as inertial dampeners to alleviate the worst effects of rapid acceleration. They are also capable of protecting the ship with localized gravitational fields that can redirect attacks away from the vessel through a field of warped spacetime. A curious effect of this drive system is its interaction with Arquebus fields; as the spatial warping used to transit a ship's spacetime faster-than-light can actually be redirected by a suitable gravitational pull, allowing Ativari ships to uniquely 'steer' while transiting between systems.

Construction & Infrastructure Grand and esoteric megastructures are made possible by graviton fulcra; as an insular species with little territorial claim outside their core systems, Ativari put this technology to work on expansive networks of orbitals, energy collectors, and vertical construction projects within their space. This allows Ativari structures to be grown larger and more impressive than those of other societies using conventional construction, and the ability to generate equally-distributed gravity on orbitals of any dimensions allow for swarms of planar habitats that simply rotate around a central axis to simulate a natural diurnal cycle.​

Personal Protection & Transport Common throughout the conclave and especially applied militarily within their Adaptive Combatskins, smaller gravitic fulcra can be used to easily transport goods or personnel quickly without the use of vehicles; allowing affected objects to 'fly' or 'bound' based on the strength of the graviton field. Nano-sclae applications are also often utilized; such as the fields present to retain and enforce combatskin nanofields that form the foundation of Ativari stealth technology, and such fields can be used to construct or enforce tougher nanomaterials.
