Human Systems

Below is a list of notable star systems controlled by human societies within the Spur.  While many such systems are titled using their HSCS classification, some have been since renamed or grandfathered into the classification system with colloquial designations.

Confederate Systems
Homeworld The homeworld of humanity and original seat of Hegemonic power; Homeworld and its parent system now lies scoured of life in the wake of an unprecedented Volucrid assault that resulted in an as-yet-unexplained energetic emission during the darkest hours of the Colonial Crisis.  Now, the system lies abandoned; travel to it restricted by HDC warships; who still report sightings of Blackships and other phenomena in the vicinity of humanity's ancestral cradle.

Skyshield-06 The capital of the Homeworld Confederacy and seat of the Governing Council, Skyshield is a rocky planet orbiting abnormally close to its parent star.  Due to its close proximity to Homeworld, Skyshield became the first stellar body colonized by the Hegemony, and the colonization of the planet represents the starting point of the widely used Hegemonic timestamp system.  Skyshield is named after the massive orbital screen placed at the planet's orbital lagrange point that protects its cities from its star's harmful radiation.

Cerulean-22 â€‹Vital for its vast repositories of heavy metals, Cerulean represents key infrastructure in the Amalgam network thanks to its extensive datahub that has positioned the planet as a powerful center for financial and information services.  During its original terraforming process; the planet's original atmosphere was found to be too chemically complex to be fully replaced, and instead a lighter breathable atmosphere was simply overlayed on top.  This restricted human settlement to only the planet's highest elevations, and the immense economic divide between the planet's economic and miner classes; the latter of which are forced to live and work at the basal levels of its vertical cities, closer to the planet's original, hostile atmosphere.

Scrimshaw-13 â€‹An earthlike colony founded in the early stages of human expansion, the planet of Scrimshaw was relatively  habitable and required little terraformation, but also held little strategic or economic value and as such larger colonization efforts were never seriously undertaken.  Initial exploration found an oxygen-rich atmosphere and many large natural structures dotted across planet's surface, composed of a porous material that was easily excavated for habitation.  It was later identified by xenobiologists that these were the mountainous remains of enormous terrestrial organisms, since extinct.  Scrimshaw became the colony's colloquial name and later grandfathered into the system's HSCS designation, and the planet has since become home to several renowned institutes of xeno-studies.

Illuviate-58 â€‹A harsh, desert world identified by xenopaleontologists as having been home to a watery biome as recently as 1-million HRUs ago, before an unexplained ecological collapse devastated the planetary environment.  The planet proved difficult to terraform, with little strategic or economic value, and its primary inhabitants are xenoarchaeologists documenting its continent-sized cyclopean supralithic structures.

Konager Systems

Naeman The throneworld of the Konager League and seat of power of its central government.
Volgox Crawler
Tsaleme's Reach Systems

A group of habitable systems on the outskirts of human space above the galactic plane and reaching into extra-galactic space, these systems were identified have a high density of valuable worlds by Hegemonic explorers, and were catalogued for colonization, but due to their distance from Homeworld were never officially colonized.  They became a haven for corporate interests and independent anarchic communities.  After the collapse of the Hegemony and founding of the Confederacy; a proverbial gold rush occurred between Confederate, Utopian, and Konager League parties seeking claim of the Reach's valuable worlds, leaving the space hotly contested but not officially the territory of any particular party.

Precipice-04 Also referred to a Precipius, this planetary body was deemed valuable enough for terraformation by a joint Konager-Homeworld coalition for the purpose of facilitating surface mining operations. As tensions between the two powers rose following the completion of terraformation process; territories were consolidated around mining claims, with demilitarized zone spanning thousands of miles declared between them.  Since this zone is not supervised by law enforcement from either government, the few human populations living there have assembled self-governing city-states. The ban on military action has established this lawless zone as a haven for dissident and anarchist movements; and plays host to several unmolested colonies of Volucrid organisms.
