Sklorp

Diminutive aliens found commonly around settled systems within the Spur, Sklorps are regarded as an enigma for their sheer ubiquity. Highly adaptable, these small creatures; typically standing less than 1m (39 inches) tall are found across most habitable planets harboring oxygen-nitrogen atmospheres and carboniferous biochemistry; however wild populations are only found on stellar bodies hosting supralithic structures or relics. This has raised far-reaching questions regarding the Sklorp's origins and their relationship to these ancient megastructures. Still, the species harmless nature and relative utility has seen them integrated smoothly into most compatible societies.
While Sklorps have not been found to possess any significant level of intelligence, they do have a strong instinct for mimicry and mirroring the actions of other, larger lifeforms in their vicinity. Alongside a sense of dogged loyalty to caretakers, this has cemented Sklorps place in many civilizations as helpful assistants, laborers, or pets.
